Church Committees

Listed below are the committees of our church. Click on committee titles in white for more information.

Adult Committee provides an array of opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and Christian service through Sunday School, Wednesday Night Adult Seminars and special programs.

Children’s Committee facilitates ministry to children. Activities include periodic Family Dedication Service, nursery care, Sunday School, choirs, mission study through Mission Friends, GAs, and RAs, Weekday School for twos, threes and fours.

Youth Committee oversees ministry with youth: Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday evening educational activities for youth, summer Youth Mission Project

Care Committee offers assistance to members of the church family who face crisis

Family Life Committee relates to all family units including singles through the creation and implementation of sustained inter-generational and family issue programs

Finance Committee oversees all aspects of church finances

House and Grounds Committee oversees the use, maintenance and cleanliness of the church facilities and the care of the church grounds.

Hunger Committee supports programs to fight hunger. Donations from the congregation are distributed quarterly among agencies and organizations concerned with hunger relief.

Leadership Committee is responsible for enlistment and development of lay leadership in the church and nominates persons to fill leadership and service positions.

Membership Committee supervises and promotes activities and procedures which enlist and incorporate new members into St. John’s Baptist Church.

Mission Action Committee encourages and enables our church family to experience the joy and blessing of servant ministry through education and mission projects.

Personnel Committee provides for secular, professional, spiritual and personal growth and development of the Ministerial and support staff of the church.

Recreation Committee promotes recreational activities for the church family in order to heighten the sense of family within the church and to deepen fellowship.

Amor Proximi Committee strengthens and supports church connections with those of us for whom limitations on self or family make church participation difficult.

Health and Wellness Committee promotes good stewardship of health, and encourages healthy lifestyle choices through education programs and health related ministries

Arts Committee enriches the life of the church through music, art, drama, etc

Media Center Staff is responsible for building and maintaining an effective library/media center for the enrichment of the church

Worship Committee oversees planning for music and worship including baptism, altar flowers, seasonal banners and Lord’s Supper.

Stewardship Committee provides emphasis, interest, and imagination in the stewardship ministry of the church.
