Rev. Haley Blackwell
Minister for Youth & Young Adults
Rev. Haley Blackwell joined the staff of St. John’s in the Fall of 2022. She holds an M.Div from George W. Truett Theological Seminary and a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy with an emphasis in Christian Spiritual Formation from Friends University. During college, Haley discovered a strong faith rooted in spiritual disciplines. This led to her desire to be a minister to college students. During her time in seminary, she worked with Baylor University’s Spiritual Life as a Resident Chaplain, and upon graduation returned to Friends University as the Associate Campus Pastor of Formation. Haley has spent time studying the faith formation of young people and how to help youth maintain their faith through their college years and beyond.

Haley enjoys spending time with SJBC youth and young adults and loves building community and relationships. She has some serious skills in Mario Kart and loves playing games with youth. She looks forward to learning from youth as much, if not more than she teaches them. She admires the way that St. John's young adults integrate into the life of the church and are actively contributing to the flourishing of our congregation.

Haley lives with her Austin and they have a rat terrier named Scout who has a personality much bigger than she is. They have one son, Finn, and love watching him grow! Haley and Austin love doing escape rooms together, collecting rare plants (they have a greenhouse in their spare room!) and playing Wingspan together. Haley spends her spare time researching new technology, playing with Scout, and eating chips and queso.
