Mission Action: Community Building Team

Our Community Building Team consists of the members of our church family who have a serious concern for the issues of our local community. Much attention is given to the ways that we relate to other religious groups, other races, and other cultures. These servants seek to meet the needs of those in our community with worship and a cup of coffee. They assist internationals in learning our language even as they share God's language.

Where Can I Plug In?

Baptist Peace Fellowship: This group links Baptists who envision a world of peace rooted in justice to one another. Resources and training are available to educate and inspire people of faith to transform their beliefs into practical action. Clerical help to support the staff is always needed. Visit their website at www.bpfna.org. Contact Tom and Martha Bryson.

Hope Chapel: Many of our members arrive early at Hope Chapel to welcome those who are cold and homeless in our community. With a warm cup of coffee to offer and a song to sing, these folks donate their time and supplies to keep this chapel ministry going. Contact Linda Merchant.

Mecklenburg Ministries: This organization offers many classes and forums to assist, develop and nurture relationships within the Charlotte community. Some of their feature events are Bridge-building and Inner Change. Visit their website at www.meckmin.org. Contact Jane Winn.

International House: This organization is located next door to St. John's and we are proud to partner with them. These folks are committed to speaking to the diverse needs of internationals who have relocated to our area. Visit their website at www.ihclt.org. Contact Lou Fuller.
